Everyone needs some good advice every once in a while, or a nudge to get them going again. Perhaps some proverbial fire under a stagnant situation. Here’s my periodical nudge, called the “Weekly Matchbook“.

1. 7 Steps to Marketing Success – by John Jantsch

In this article, John provides a very clean and actionable process for small business owners and executives to market their business effectively. Though I disagree with John’s definition of marketing (“Marketing is getting someone [who] has a need to know, like and trust you.”), believing there to be one more element to it (“moving a product/service from an idea to the hands of a consumer” and/or “Providing the right product at the right place with the right price and promotion to the right people at a profit”), the concepts of developing a marketing strategy are spot on. A relevant article for anyone in a revenue-increasing position (which in my mind is every employee, from the bottom up).

2. The Great Power of Making Your Audience Part of Your Story – by Katya Andresen

This article is written for non-profit marketing, but is equally applicable to for-profit marketing. What actions can you take to make your customers a more integral part of your product’s story?

3. Flixpres.com – by FlixPress LLC

For those who use video as part of their content marketing, PR or communication strategies (which I believe to be somewhat “cross-trained,” for lack of a better word), FlixPress is a God-send. FlixPress has all of your 3-D animated video needs covered, from free editable pre-made animation templates to fully customizable HD video.

Whether you’re looking for budget-friendly solutions or have a behemoth of a budget to burn, Flixpress has all the bang-for-your-buck options available.

4. The Glif+ – by Studio Neat

I’m continuing with the video-based product solutions. If you want to start using video in your content marketing, PR or communications and you own an iPhone 4 or 4s, this product is for you. The Glif+ is a handy little contraption that lets you harness the HD power of your iPhone video camera by mounting it to any video camera tripod device. With a cell-phone that shoots in HD 1080p, you don’t really need anything else. Save yourself some money from buying another HD camera and purchase the Glif+ (or just the basic Glif).

5. Placecast.net – by Placecast, Inc.

Let’s role-play for a few seconds: You hear the craze about mobile marketing, and you decide that it’s a great opportunity for your company to increase sales. Which service should you use? What’s your next step?

Look no further. Placecast has you covered. With Placecast, you can “target customers at the right time and place, on any phone, in the right mindset, [and] only if they opted in.” A great product for text-based mobile marketing.
